How to optimize your lighting with an LED strip?

What lighting do you want?

As always, you have to go and make a list of specifications.
To do so, the easiest way is to apply the method, i.e. to answer (in any order) the questions: who, what, where, when, how, why (or for what).

Define what you want to do.

Would you like to use mood lighting, building highlighting, architectural enhancement, or functional reading, DIY lighting, etc.?
Do you want direct or indirect lighting (reflected or diffused by a wall, a ceiling, etc.), or with a particular orientation?
Should we vary the light intensity?
Study and define your constraints
What are the dimensions of the ribbon, the profile, the cable?
What is the place for the power supply and a possible controller (dimmer)?
Is there a presence of dust, water, water vapor, or other types of vapors (oil, etc.)?
Is there a source of heat or cold?
Must the product be installed indoors or outdoors?
In what type of premises: housing, factory, warehouse, ERP, IGH, etc.?
Will the food be locked up, placed on wood or any easily flammable material?
What will be the duration of daily use (a few hours a week, a few hours a day, 12 hours a day, more than 12 hours a day)?

After answering these few questions, the choice of products becomes (almost) obvious, once read the technical advice of the products.
